Finance Attorney (Energy)

The Position
Our client, a renewable energy company, is seeking an experienced Finance Attorney to support with some overflow work. This candidate should have a minimum 5 years of experience in renewable energy project finance and experience with:

  • Experience in financing deals based on asset value and revenue generation rather than borrower creditworthiness.
  • Understanding of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs)
  • Experience with tax equity transactions
  • Membership Interest Purchase Agreements (MIPAs)
  • Equity & Capital Contribution Agreements (ECCAs)
  • Familiarity with the full suite of negotiated agreements specific to renewable energy project development.

The ideal candidate should be proactive and forward-thinking, independent and self-sufficient, and possess strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with both internal stakeholders and external legal teams.

The client is aiming for a mid-July start date and the duration is 6 months. 20-30 hours/week with potential to scale very quickly and the role is fully remote. 

The hourly rate for this assignment is expected to be between $112 and $125. Litigation Attorney

The Position
Our client is a company that provides a popular and innovative communications platform geared towards gamers. They are in need of a skilled general litigation attorney to support their team with overflow work. This attorney will be responsible for the following tasks:

– Manage a caseload of disputes, encompassing pre-litigation demands, lawsuits, and arbitration, all without the assistance of outside counsel.
– Oversee responses to discovery requests from both domestic and international third parties.
– Offer support throughout the litigation process, spanning early case evaluation, e-discovery, fact-finding, legal research, witness preparation, motion practice, hearings, arbitration, trials, and settlements.
– Handle inquiries received through various aliases, redirecting or escalating them based on the potential litigation risk levels.
– Conduct legal research and produce memos on pertinent developments in the legal landscape within areas relevant to the client.
– Provide administrative assistance, including billing and invoicing for outside counsel, as well as liaising with insurance providers.

This candidate must be an excellent drafter, and should be able to work independently. This person must have excellent interpersonal relationship skills and should be able to work with a high volume of open matters at any given time. This client is not looking for someone who will overlawyer. The ideal candidate also has experience working at online communications or social media companies. 

Our client is looking to have someone in the seat ASAP and the duration of this project is estimated to be two months with potential to extend. This project is estimated to be 40 hours/week. Candidates will be fully remote. Ideal candidates should be flexible about meeting times (most frequent touch points will be in EST and PST).

The hourly rate for this assignment is expected to be between $101 and $110. The Position

A global technology company is seeking a senior employment counsel to provide interim support for its Americas legal team during a parental leave. The role includes advising on pre-litigation matters such as demand letters, wage/hour issues, leaves and accommodations, and performance management, with particular emphasis on California employment law. The role involves regular collaboration with business partners, HR/ER, and outside counsel across the U.S., Canada, and LATAM.

This project starts on or around July 21 (for some coverage), runs through January, and is 40 hours/week. The client is open to remote candidates, but being able to go into the San Jose, CA office 1-2x may be given additional consideration.

The Position
Our client is a vertically integrated coatings manufacturer operating across the United States. They are looking for a corporate/commercial generalist to support a number of legal matters. Successful candidates will have experience in some of the following areas: commercial contracting, real estate matters, labor and employment issues, M&A matters, corporate governance issues, SEC work, or litigation management. The client is seeking candidates who are easily able to pivot, take initiative, and issue spot across practice areas. 

The client is in need of an experienced attorney who is able to go on-site 2-3 days per week in Fort Worth, TX. Their office is based in the culture district. 

The anticipated start date is late June/early July, and the weekly hours are expected to be 20 hours/week. The estimated duration is 2-3+ months with the potential to convert to an FTE depending on a number of factors.

California Litigation Attorney (Onsite)

The Position
Our client is a large restaurant franchise with more than 70,000 employees nationwide. They are seeking a temp to perm California licensed litigation attorney, open to mid (5+ yrs exp) and senior (8+ yrs exp) experience level. Senior level litigation attorney will be responsible for in-house depositions, investigations, hands-on litigation, and would be trusted and expected to manage cases from start to finish. They will own the entire process for CA based cases but will also partner closely with outside counsel for cases in other states. Client is open to more mid level litigation attorneys even if they do not have experience managing cases start to finish. For mid level attorney, they will be looking for someone who wants to learn, grow, and is motivated to up-skill. The bulk of the work will be ~75% premises liability and 25% commercial/real estate disputes. 

The ideal candidate must be team oriented, collaborative, comfortable communicating kindly and respectfully  across all teams and all levels of experience.

ASAP start, 40 hours per week. Candidates must be licensed in California (bonus if barred in additional states) and must be comfortable with a hybrid model, 4 days onsite M-TH in San Francisco, CA. This is 2-3 month duration with potential to convert for the right candidate.

Paragon Legal, a flexible legal talent provider, is hiring an experienced Director of Recruiting to join our team on a remote basis.  The Director of Recruiting will be a crucial member of the Paragon Legal recruiting team, responsible for managing a team of senior recruiters, driving proactive talent initiatives, and serving as additional coverage for the recruiting and sourcing teams. This role requires a dynamic and experienced leader with a proven track record in legal recruiting and team management. The ideal candidate will be a data-driven strategist, a supportive mentor, and a hands-on recruiter who thrives in a fast-paced, remote environment. 

This is a fully remote role with travel required 1-2x per year.

Responsibilities:

Team Leadership and Management:

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and guidance to a team of Senior Recruiters, fostering a fun, collaborative and high-performing environment.

  • Conduct regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and develop individual coaching plans. Mentor and train recruiters to enhance their recruiting skills and industry knowledge.

  • With client side colleagues, manage & prioritize team workload and ensure efficient recruiting coverage for projects.

  • Monitor and report on team performance, utilizing data and analysis to identify trends and areas for improvement.

  • Lead the recruitment and onboarding of new recruiters.

Proactive Talent Strategies & Team Coverage:

  • Assist the Project Filling team with building and maintaining proactive pipelines of highly qualified interim counsel candidates.

  • Partner with the Business Development team for potential client needs.

  • Periodically manage full lifecycle recruitment, from initial sourcing to offer negotiation and onboarding.

  • Serve as additional coverage for the recruiter and sourcing teams during PTO and as needed.

  • Partner with the sourcing team to ensure a consistent flow of qualified candidates.

  • Utilize LinkedIn and other networking forums to promote Paragon projects and connect with legal talent.

  • As a team, maintain the integrity of Paragon’s ATS through consistent and thorough “real time” reporting of relevant recruiting activity and intel.

Strategic and Operational Contributions:

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of recruiting best practices and processes.

  • Create and analyze team KPI reports. Share findings in an easily digested manner.

  • Utilize data-driven insights to optimize recruiting strategies and improve efficiency.

  • Stay abreast of industry trends and market conditions to inform recruiting strategies.

  • Provide market intel to client-facing colleagues.

  • Partner with the VP Recruiting, Senior Recruiters, and Talent Sourcing Team on other special projects related to Paragon’s sourcing and recruiting function.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of legal recruiting experience gained within a talent acquisition team, search firm, and/or staffing agency. Experience recruiting for in-house legal positions is strongly preferred. Experience with contract/consulting/interim placements is preferred but not required.

  • 3+ years of experience managing a team.

  • Team Leadership — You have a proven ability to lead, motivate, and support a team, helping them achieve performance goals while fostering a fun, collaborative, high-performing culture. You are proactive in removing roadblocks, celebrating successes, and ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.

  • Communication Skills — You have excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills. You are confident and articulate in conversations with candidates, colleagues, and clients, and you understand how to tailor your approach depending on the audience and situation.

  • Data-Driven and Analytical — You have a strong analytical mindset and consistently utilize data to inform and optimize recruiting strategies. You are comfortable creating, interpreting, and sharing reports, and you use insights to drive continuous improvement across the team.

  • Technical Proficiency — You are proficient in using applicant tracking systems (ATS) and LinkedIn Recruiter. You understand the importance of maintaining accurate records and leveraging technology to maximize recruiting efficiency and candidate experience.

Compensation:

The base salary for this role is in the range of $125,000-155,000. This position is bonus eligible. Bonus will be based on individual, team, and company performance. The salary range is an estimate; an employee’s compensation will be based on the employee’s qualifications, skillset and relevant experience, and other considerations permitted by law.
