Venture Capital Attorney
The Position
An investment firm is seeking a junior venture capital attorney to support early-stage financing transactions. This role focuses on venture capital deals, including equity rounds and SAFEs, with responsibilities around reviewing transaction documents, issue spotting, and risk assessment, as well as coordinating with internal finance partners, portfolio companies, and outside counsel. Additional responsibilities will include responding to portfolio company, shareholder, and board-related requests, assisting with board prep, managing closing logistics, and helping keep transactions moving efficiently.
Candidates must have prior venture capital experience, ideally with approximately 2-3 years of venture capital-focused work supporting early-stage financings. This role is intended for attorneys whose experience is rooted in venture capital transactions rather than general corporate or M&A work. Big Law experience supporting venture capital transactions is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate is collaborative, proactive, and low ego; someone who is comfortable jumping in to help across both legal and administrative work, asks questions, communicates clearly, and operates well in a small, fast-moving environment.
Targeting an ASAP start, fully remote, 15-20 hours/week, for an initial 3-4 month duration, with the potential to transition to a full-time role depending on fit and overall business needs.
The hourly rate for this assignment is expected to be between $83 and $93. This range is an estimate; an employee’s compensation will be based on the employee’s qualifications, skillset, and relevant experience, specific client needs, project requirements, and other considerations permitted by law.
