Corporate Generalist Attorney (Higher Education)
The Position
Our client is a graduate-level institution in Southern California focused on depth psychology. They are seeking an experienced higher education attorney to join its three-person legal team. This attorney will take on a broad range of matters, including IP, employment, regulatory, and commercial agreements.
This role will involve the revision of the school's IP policy, provide day-to-day counseling on employment and HR issues with a focus on Title IX and ADA compliance, and draft and negotiate a variety of commercial transactions across facilities, software, procurement, and marketing. This person will also assess and triage regulatory issues, advising on which issues can be managed internally and which require specialist outside counsel.
This person must be able to work independently within a small legal team, and balance legal advice with practical realities of an academic environment. The client is seeking someone who values collaboration, and can build trust with faculty and staff, while demonstrating a genuine commitment to education, Strong higher education experience is a must, including some familiarity with DOE regulations and governance structures.
The client is looking to have someone in the seat ASAP for 10+ hours/week. The estimated duration is ongoing and candidates can be fully remote. Overlap with PST hours is important.
The hourly rate for this assignment is expected to be between $110 and $120. This range is an estimate; an employee’s compensation will be based on the employee’s qualifications, skillset, and relevant experience, specific client needs, project requirements, and other considerations permitted by law.
