Product Safety & Incident Response Counsel
The Position
A global technology and consumer electronics company is seeking an experienced Product Safety & Incident Response Counsel to support its growing legal and compliance function. This attorney will take a lead role in responding to product safety incidents involving consumer products, with responsibility spanning both product liability matters and regulatory response.
The attorney will evaluate product-related customer claims, work with insurers, outside counsel, engineers, and technical experts, assess litigation and settlement strategy, and help manage matters involving property damage and personal injury. The role will also advise on regulatory reporting obligations, draft and review agency responses, manage investigations and information requests, and support corrective actions and recalls.
Strong candidates will bring meaningful product liability/product litigation experience together with government regulatory experience involving product safety incidents. CPSC experience is particularly relevant, and attorneys with NHTSA product safety and recall experience are also strongly encouraged given the transferable experience with defect investigations, reporting obligations, agency inquiries, and recalls. Candidates must be U.S.-based and comfortable supporting global responses.
This 40 hour a week project starts ASAP. The company is specifically seeking candidates interested in potential conversion to a full-time hybrid position with three days onsite in Novi, Michigan preferred, with Northridge or Sunnyvale, California; Richardson, Texas; and Stamford, Connecticut as alternative locations.
The hourly rate for this assignment is expected to be between $95 and $100. This range is an estimate; an employee’s compensation will be based on the employee’s qualifications, skillset, and relevant experience, specific client needs, project requirements, and other considerations permitted by law.
