Employment Attorney (CA Employment Law Experience)
The Position
A leading medical technology company is seeking an experienced California employment counsel to partner closely with its HR organization on a wide range of day-to-day employment matters. This role supports a workforce that includes both hourly (manufacturing-heavy) and salaried employees and requires a strong foundation in California employment law. Responsibilities will include advising on wage and hour compliance, handling day-to-day questions related to leaves and accommodations, performance management, and terminations, and providing guidance on employee relations matters, including helping scope, review, and advise on investigations. The role will also involve supporting employment-related claims and litigation preparation, as well as occasional policy updates.
A significant component of this position is partnering closely with multiple HR Directors across different parts of the business, serving as a trusted advisor and primary legal point of contact for their respective groups. The ideal candidate is collaborative, proactive, and pragmatic, with the ability to navigate nuanced situations and tailor their approach based on the needs of different HR partners.
Targeting an ASAP start, 25-40 hours per week, for an estimated 4-6 month duration. This role can be fully remote. Candidates local to the Bay Area and available to work onsite in Alameda are a strong plus.
The hourly rate for this assignment is expected to be between $106 and $116. This range is an estimate; an employee’s compensation will be based on the employee’s qualifications, skillset, and relevant experience, specific client needs, project requirements, and other considerations permitted by law.
