Trade Compliance Attorney (OFAC Sanctions & EAR Experience)
The Position
A leading global technology company is seeking a Trade Compliance Attorney to support with some overflow work. This role will be embedded within the company’s Trade Compliance function and will focus on export controls and sanctions matters impacting software, SaaS, and cloud-based products.
The attorney will advise on U.S. export controls under the EAR, including encryption and mass-market classifications, assess OFAC sanctions risks related to global software distribution and cloud services, and partner closely with product and engineering teams during the software development lifecycle. The role will also involve classification of software under the Commerce Control List, drafting trade compliance-related contract provisions, supporting restricted party screening processes, and helping enhance trade compliance policies and procedures.
The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in export controls and sanctions in a technology environment, and a demonstrated ability to provide practical, business-focused guidance in a fast-paced setting. Experience working with software, SaaS, cloud architecture, and emerging technologies such as AI is strongly preferred.
This anticipated start date is mid-April, is 7 months in duration, fully remote, and requires 30-40 hours per week.
The hourly rate for this assignment is expected to be between $110 and $112. This range is an estimate; an employee’s compensation will be based on the employee’s qualifications, skillset, and relevant experience, specific client needs, project requirements, and other considerations permitted by law.
